Beach Theme Invitation
What do you do when it’s time for invitations for your beach wedding, but you don’t want it to be too “beachy”? We decided to focus on the flow of the water and waves and an elegant letterpress presentation to give the right feel for Lisa & Bryant’s wedding on Cape Cod. It also had to match the “Tie Optional” vibe, so it definitely called for some bubbles and waves to give it some fun! The groom’s parents live here in Washington, DC so we enjoyed working with them in person to come up with a set of pieces that would get everyone excited about the big event.
Time for a Pocketfold
This wedding had many details to include, from the information on accommodations that needed to be booked well in advance, to a rehearsal dinner clambake, to a day-after brunch. The perfect time for a pocketfold to hold everything together! This pocketfold was done in pearlescent silvery paper, closed with a belly band with the couple’s new monogram letterpressed in silver. All wrapped up in an organized package to help everyone plan.
This design is also available as a digital print through our Zazzle store.

Stop Motion From Our Studio
We’ve been playing around with stop motion photography in our studio and came up with a few videos. Here’s one just for this invitation set. Watch for the jumping fish.

Working on logos for clients is always fun for us here at Digby & Rose, but somehow we had long avoided upgrading and updating our own logo. There’s just so much more pressure! But at last, we’re pleased to debut the new Digby & Rose logo, which Heather (A/K/A Rose) likes to jokingly say took her one year, one month, one day and five minutes to create.
The Inspiration

The main inspiration for the logo of course had to come from the world of letterpress. We were thinking about antique wood type, and how it looks when it’s set up in a tray for printing on an old Vandercook. We wanted to take the “D” and “R” from our name and give it a block print flair, with the “R” of course turned backwards.
As much as we like a vintage look, we also wanted the logo to have clean architectural lines that’s representative of our style and brand. So we made it a sleeker form with straight lines and geometric aspect, and a sans serif font for the company name.

The New Logo in Action
Now our new logo can be seen in all of our new packaging. Our favorite is our new business card, with a silver foil stamp on one side on Curious Skin black paper, adhered to 220lb Crane Lettra with a black letterpress print. And of course don’t forget the lavender edge painting!
The new logo also makes a great pattern for custom wrapping paper, and on the silver sticker closure for all our outgoing packages. The last thing we couldn’t resist is a new Digby & Rose wax seal. We hope you like the results!

And keep an eye out for our new Stationery Cuts videos coming soon, bringing all the gorgeous paper to life, frame by frame in stop motion!

The logistics of moving all your wedding guests from venue to reception is something brides and grooms often forget until the last minute. Here’s a list just for your convenience of creative and fun ways to move your wedding party in Washington, DC.
1) Trolley – Old Town, Alexandria

www.trolleytours.com
How charming would it be if your whole party climbed into darling little trollies after your grand ceremony and trailed after your limo or private trolley to the reception, waving at passersby and having a jolly good time? Pretty darn charming, if you ask me. Renting a trolley is not only unique, but also totally doable. So it would not only be convenient for your guests, but for you as well!
3) Ferry – Washington, DC
How great would it be if you had your ceremony on one side of the potomac and your

reception at another venue on the other? There are so many different kinds of ferries available for renting: The Cherry Blossom (pictured), The Miss Christin, The Admiral Tilp, The Miss Mallory, The Lady Josephine, and The Matthew Hayes. Don’t limit yourself and your party to only one side of the Potomac, explore all of DC, on and off shore!
The Potomac River Boat Company owns all of the ferries listed above and are open to private charters – all you have to do is call!
4) DC Ducks – Washington, DC

Quack, quack! Yes, what you’re seeing is not just in your imagination, you can in fact rent a DC Duck Boat for your big day. One thing is required for this to work: a sense of humor! Delight will ensue as your guests leave the ceremony and what do they see? DC Duck Boats as far the eye can see! There are no limitations to where the boats could take them, over the river or through town.
5) Horse Drawn Carriages -Washington, DC

Nothing spells out romance better than horse drawn carriages through DC. A fall wedding would be perfected with this little addition. The Shenandoah Carriage Company, LLC have elegant carriages all available for rent that specialize in making your big day into a real-life fairy tale.
